SummaryTwo new buildings were designed to form a new campus for the University of Gloucestershire at their Oxstalls Lane site in Gloucester. One building is a learning centre which incorporates a library with 300 VDU workstations together with a 200-seat lecture theatre and a suite of teaching rooms. The other building, the School of Sports Science, provides space for laboratories, academic offices, sports hall and specialist accommodation for the faculty. The photovoltaic system consists of 368 Photowatt PW1650 modules arranged in 23 arrays of 16 modules. The system totals 64kWp and is one of the larger installations in the UK's Large Scale PV Field Trials. The modules are situated at a tilt angle of 30 degrees and are approximately 10 degrees east of South. The original modules specified at the design stage had several months delivery time due to high demand and a decision was made to switch to Photowatt modules. There is no export from the site, with all power generated from the PV system being used on site, representing 4.6% of the total electricity consumption for the campus.
