SummaryOn the immense roofage of the BMW World (about 16.000m²) SunStrom installed a roof integrated photovoltaic system with 3660 modules and a nominal power of 824 kWp. Alone the outward appearance is unique. One special function of the photovoltaic system is that it works like the “fifth façade” of the building. Through its exposed position next to the Olympia Tower and to the BMW Group-Building the BMW World is always visible from top. Therefore the architectural design of the roofage was planned with great care. Between the black glimmering module fields there were constructed small ways covered with stainless steel plates. These ways cross the whole roofage and generate a reticular pattern.
