SummaryThe Paul-Horn Arena, also called “TüArena” by the local people, is located in Tübingen, Germany. It opens its doors on December 2004. It is a large universal indoor sporting arena with an innovative energy concept. Numerous amateur and professional sports enthusiasts use the diverse possibilities of the sports hall almost 365 days of the year. With 2000 Seats and a total visitor’s capacity of 3130 this large sports hall is suitable for hosting German Bundesliga matches. For example it is the home of the WALTER TIGERS Tübingen basketball team, which plays successfully in the German national league. The buildings have a gross floor space of 5845m2. On the south-west façade of the building PV-modules are used as a cladding material for the building exterior. Thanks to the specially developed, green-coloured solar cells this PV-cladding material matches perfectly with the overall design concept of the building. The total construction costs for the area are € 6,5 Billion. Awards: - Stiftungspreises "Lebendige Stadt" 2005 - National BIPV- competition, Solarenergieförderverein Bayern e.V. 2005
